Romantic Getaways in Tampa, Florida

If you’re looking for a perfect romantic getaway then look no further than Tampa, Florida! Whether you only have a couple days or over a week with your special someone, you will find plenty of excitement in Tampa along with incredible places to stay.

Tampa is a pretty large area with lots of exciting options to choose from, so it can be difficult to pick where you want to stay or want to do. To save you some time, I have compiled a list of hotels paired with restaurants, and activities. I provided the most details about your hotel options though as that will be the central hub of your vacation.

Don’t take this list as law though. Mix and match the hotels and activities however you want! This is your romantic trip! This list is just a guide that helps narrow your options a little.

Whether you’re a planner or just like to be spontaneous and live in the moment, this list gives you top notch options to consider.

But still check out what’s in Tampa yourself before coming! There is so much to do and see, and I can’t cover all of it in a list. Even if you are a planner, I would recommend scheduling a day just to go exploring. You’re sure to find some amazing places that you might have missed online.

So, without further ado, here are some ideas for romantic getaways in Tampa, Florida!

Romantic Getaway Ideas for Tampa

1) A stay at the Epicurean Hotel, Autograph Collection

Source: Epicurean /Facebook

The Epicurean hotel is a perfect option if you aren’t on a tight budget and you want simple luxury. The rates here start around $200 a night, but you absolutely get what you pay for. The Epicurean offers basic hotel rooms as well as entire suites. Again, if you’re not on a budget, check out their suites. It’s always nice to have more room wherever you’re staying. Regardless of the type of room you stay in though, you, and your special someone will be thrilled the perfect balance of rustic and modern luxury.

Every room has all the usual amenities you would expect from a high class hotel including at least a mini-fridge, mini-bar, and exceptional room service. I highly recommend you order breakfast for yourselves and have breakfast in bed. It’s the perfect way to start off the day. I mean just look at that.

And all rooms have at least a 42-inch flat screen tv, so you can end your day watching a movie snuggling under the cozy duvets.

Along with the splendid in-room amenities, the hotel also has its own spa – Spa Evangeline.

Epicurean Couples Massage

If you haven’t experienced the joy and intimacy of a couple’s massage, this will be an amazing place to try it! Spa Evangeline offers much more than just basic couple’s massages though. Check out their spa menu and prepare to pamper yourself. You won’t be able to resist choosing at least one of their couple’s treatments whether it’s the Champagne tub and table for two or the shower with love treatment.

Personally, the rain shower followed by aromatherapy and massage from the shower with love treatment sounds great, but I think I’ll be enjoying the Champagne tub and table for two. I’ll also be enhancing the treatment with a couple of glasses of bubbly. Did I mention you can add enhancements like a bottle of Champagne to any spa activity? Well you can. And it’s awesome!

Now, in regard to location, the Epicurean is in a great spot. If you actually feel like leaving your hotel, you have lots of shopping, restaurants, and attractions close by. You’re within a 10-15-minute drive from the Tampa Museum of Art, the Tampa Bay History Center, the Florida Aquarium, the Henry B. Plant Museum, and many other famous attractions! If you don’t mind driving a little farther, you’re within about 20 minutes from the ZooTampa at Lowry Park and Busch Gardens too!

So, whether you and your special someone enjoy walking around a zoo, riding roller coasters, or discussing your favorite art pieces in a museum, you won’t be bored here.

For you couples who love to go shopping together, the Epicurean is also a 5-15 -minute drive away from Hyde Park Village, Westshore Plaza, and International Plaza. All three of these shopping areas feature tons of specialty shops and national retailers. For a more intimate, less crowded experience, Hyde Park is more the way to go.

I don’t want to give you too many other options for the Epicurean stay, so I’ll end this entry with one restaurant recommendation outside of the hotel’s fabulous restaurant, Elevage. You have to visit Bern’s Steakhouse. It was rated as the number one steakhouse in America by The Daily Meal, and it’s right next door to the hotel. Bern’s is the perfect place to enjoy an intimate, fancy, and romantic dinner and dessert with your person. It’s honestly probably worth visiting Tampa with your person just to eat at Bern’s Steakhouse.

2) A Stay at the Birchwood

Source: The Birchwood

The Birchwood hotel is technically in St. Petersburg, but it’s all basically part of Tampa. What’s cool about this place is that you can explore both St. Petersburg and Tampa because you’re only about 30 minutes from the big attractions in downtown Tampa. If you’re looking for more of an intimate, relaxed getaway and aren’t in a hurry to visit big attractions, the Birchwood is a good choice for you.

Like the Epicurean, the rooms here start in the $200s and go up, but you get what you pay for. After a day full of exploration, you can dress up sharp and head up to the rooftop lounge to enjoy a dinner and drinks with a full view of Tampa bay under the stars. Or you could skip all that, grab a bottle of Champagne, and enjoy a romantic soak in the over-sized claw-foot tub in your bedroom. I don’t know about you, but my wife and I love big bathtubs. The tub alone makes me want to stay here.

I recommend the Birchwood especially to art-lovers. At the Birchwood, you’re either a trolley-ride or a short walk away from most of the local art museums and galleries such as the Chihuly Collection, Museum of Fine Arts, Morean Arts Center, and the Dali Museum pictured below.

If art museums aren’t your thing, no problem! There’s a lot of different things to do together in St. Petersburg. If the weather is nice, you might consider visiting Sunken Gardens to enjoy a walk together through dazzling scenery. Because of the tropical climate, something is blooming almost year-round, so it really doesn’t even matter what time of the year you visit! It’s always going to be beautiful!

If you’re looking for places to shop outside Tampa, St. Petersburg has several shopping areas or malls like Tyrone Square, Sundial St. Pete, or the West Central shopping center. All of these options will be smaller than what you will find in Tampa, but maybe that’s what you’re looking for!

After a day spent exploring St. Petersburg or Tampa, come back to the hotel and prep yourselves for a romantic dinner at Rococo Steak!

You are sure to enjoy the artistic vibe they have going on there before going back to your hotel for the evening.

Also, try their Sunday Brunch if you’re in town for it!

Another attraction you should check out while in St. Petersburg would be the beaches.

Whether you enjoy collecting seashells, paddle boarding, jet skiing, or just soaking up some sun with a margarita in your hand, you won’t be disappointed by the beaches at St. Petersburg. They were rated in the top 3 beaches in the U.S. on Trip Advisor in 2017. If you want a low-key and relaxing vacation where you still have the option to visit big attractions or explore a smaller city but don’t feel any pressure to do so, the Birchwood is going to be a good place for you to stay.

3) A stay at the Belleview Inn

Source: Belleview Inn /Facebook

The Belleview Inn is also in St. Petersburg, so you have essentially the same options for sight-seeing and shopping as you would at the Birchwood. The stay, however, will definitely be different. Staying at the Belleview Inn is what I would imagine it would be like to live at a southern country club. This option is more of a resort and is really best for couples who plan on spending most of their time at the hotel itself. Trust me, there is plenty to enjoy together.

For starters, every morning begins with you receiving one of these breakfast baskets full of fresh fruit, juices, and fresh baked muffins. Enjoying breakfast in bed is one of my all-time favorite things with my wife. If you haven’t had such an experience yet, just stay here. Look no further. You don’t even have to order the basket. They just bring it to you like you’re royalty.

The rooms here are exactly what you would expect from seeing the outside of the hotel – luxurious and pristine. You have a claw-foot tub (Using that every night), Keurig coffee maker, flat screen tv, marble tiling, a stand-in shower, and plush bedding that will make you never want to leave.

If the breakfast basket wasn’t already enough, you can also stop by Maisie’s. Throughout the day, you can pick up smoothies, fresh fruit, coffee, juices, fine cheeses, ice cream, small snacks, and even a selection of wine and beer at this trendy little shop!

After breakfast, you can either go out on the town and visit the local art museums I mentioned and enjoy fine cuisine, or… You could just stay at Belleview Inn and enjoy their incredible on-site amenities like their gorgeous pool and beaches!

When planning a stay at the Belleview Inn, you should also check what events they will be having during the month of your stay. About once a month, they host a special wine dinner in their Tiffany Room pictured below. The meal and hors d’oeuvers are specifically paired with wines from whoever that event’s featured provider might be. These wines are also paired by experts who explain the wines and why those particular pairings. It’s bound to be an education experience as well as an incredibly elegant and romantic evening.

Belleview Inn /Facebook

If you aren’t able to visit during one of their wine events, don’t worry! They still provide some pretty amazing options outside of those events every single week. Each night, as the sun sets, they provide complimentary Champaign and celebrate a toast to the sunset! And on Friday nights, a local pianist plays in the lobby from 5-9pm where you can also enjoy complimentary meats and cheeses. You can also order wine or beer from their reading room.

This is the perfect place to stay if you just want to relax and enjoy quality time with your person. If you do get bored though, you have all of Tampa and St. Petersburg to explore!

Unfortunately, Belleview Inn does not have its own spa, but don’t worry! If you want a relaxing spa experience, try the nearby Nirvana Day Spa. Their Four Hours of Luxury Nirvana Bliss package is pretty amazing. It includes lunch, a pedicure, 1-hour massage, glass of wine, manicure, and European facial.  They also have some incredible massage options like the standard deep tissue as well as hot stones or bamboo massages!

4) A stay on the Hillsborough River

Source: Glamping Hub

If you’re looking to have more space and spend less money, Glampinghub.com has some really great options! In the $100-$200 a night range, you can rent a little vacation home right on the Hillsborough River. The option in the pictures is only one of many, but this one is within 10-15 minutes of many of Tampa’s attractions like the aquarium, zoo, and art museum. Like I mentioned, with most of these options, you’re pretty close to all the big attractions no matter where you stay. But with this place, you can save a little money staying in modest but totally cute accommodations, and you can use that money to eat out more!

Source: Glamping Hub

You can start your morning making breakfast together (always a super romantic time). Then you can enjoy some tea or coffee afterward, and maybe do some yoga on the dock before heading into Tampa to check out the sights! If you like Spanish food, go check out Columbia, and have their famous 1905 salad followed by one of their sensational dishes!

After an amazing meal, why not pick up some of your favorite bubbly or wine and do your own toast to the sunset back on the dock at your river house! Just because you’re not staying at the Belleview Inn doesn’t mean you can’t snag one of their romantic traditions!

After that, you could still get to enjoy a soak together in a claw-foot tub. And before you worry about the cleanliness of this place – it has shining reviews for cleanliness. I’m positive you’ll love it just like everyone else has.

There you have it! Obviously, there are lots more places to stay in Tampa, but for the price and convenience, I think these are some of the absolute best options. Most places don’t have full-service spas on site or almost resort-like qualities like Belleview Inn. But this is your romantic getaway.

You might want to stay somewhere else and that’s totally up to you! You might also stay at multiple places just to experience more of Tampa! Whatever you choose to do in Tampa with your special person, I am sure it will be a magical time for both of you. I just hope this list gives you some helpful guidance on the best places to eat, great places to stay, and new experiences to enjoy with the person you love.
